Toronto is the largest city in Canada and the provincial capital of Ontario, located on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. Toronto is the economic centre of the Greater Golden Horseshoe, a large urbanized region of 8.1 million people, spreading outwards from the western shores of Lake Ontario. Residents of Toronto are called Torontonians.
