Abbotsford is located in the Fraser Valley, where 257,031 (2006) people live. Abbotsford is situated immediately north of the Canada-US border, across from Sumas, Washington. In Canada, it is south of Mission, east of Langley and west of Chilliwack. Most of the city has dramatic views of Mount Baker, a large glacier-clad volcano less than 100km from Abbotsford.
